Koninklijke foyer

The Royal Foyer is an undiscovered and classic space in the heart of Amsterdam. This spacious room is richly decorated and is located at the front of the building, which gives a view of Leidseplein. It forms an inspiring, historical setting for every business and private occasion.

History

The Royal Foyer is elegantly classic and impressive. This large foyer is located on the level of the first balcony opposite the Royal Lodge and has traditionally been reserved for members of the royal family when they attend shows. In the past this foyer even had a special royal toilet. The life-size paintings on either side in the foyer are the portraits of two of our greatest actresses. Johanna Cornelia Ziesenis-Wattier (1762-1827) hangs above the bar, according to Napoleon "the greatest tragédienne in Europe". Opposite her is Theo Mann-Bouwmeester (1850-1939), who took her name from the most important Dutch theater prize for actresses, the Theo d’Or.
