(B)randprogramma: Turn the tables
ITA Academy

During Brandhaarden, we welcome you to our Salon to join us at our table for the programme Turn the tables, inspired by the (intersectional) feminist works The Dinner Party by Judy Chicago and Guess who's coming to dinner too? by Patricia Kaersenhout. In each edition of the programme, we explore different facets of our society from the feminine perspective. The conversation opens with a keynote by a special guest, after which we explore together the state of the feminine within activism, historiography and literature, for example. What strides have been made in history? On the eve of what developments are we standing? And which women and feminists made it possible? Join us and be surprised.

A major part of this programme is in Dutch. Those parts of the programme that are in English are highlighted below.

Citytalks - DEBUNKING THE GAZE

Our popular programme WorldTalks Amsterdam is making a comeback this year with a little twist: we're going back to our Amsterdam roots! City Talks is ITA's sip & talk show, in which we focus on the talented creatives and innovators of our city. This episode, we are going to deconstruct our (inner male) gaze. Together with our speakers, we will deconstruct gender-based power dynamics, create equal worlds, and make space for multiple identities and possibilities!

In conversation with

In Gesprek

Also during Brandhaarden, there will be editions of our programme In Gesprek (In conversation with) on Fridays. After the performance, we invite actors, dancers and/or makers to talk about the production, their ideas and working methods. Using the theme of the performance they have just performed as a starting point, we invite them - together with the audience present - to explore further, to exchange experiences, in short, to engage in conversation. If you still have questions, this is the perfect time to ask them.

In Gesprek is free of charge, starts shortly after the performance in one of our foyers, is conducted in English and lasts an average of half an hour.

fri 03 mar — Die Jungfrau von Orleans

Artist Talks

A look behind the scenes and conversations with the makers make the performance visit even more interesting. That is why ITA Academy organises a series of Artist Talks during Brandhaarden: in-depth discussions with inspiring makers about their work and working methods, motives, sources of inspiration and fascinations. Artist Talks take place after a performance by the artist in question and offer a deeper look at the work in a broader context.

The talks are in English

thu 23 feb — Elsa-Sophie Jach

sat 25 feb — Eline Arbo

sun 26 feb — Hanane Hajj Ali

tue 28 feb — Carme Portaceli

wed 01 mrt — Satoko Ichihara

More Brandhaarden
