The Oscar night of Dutch theatre
Het Gala van het Nederlands Theater (The Gala of Dutch Theatre) is the 'Oscar night' of Dutch theatre. To close the festival, the most important theatre awards are presented here, including the Louis d'Or and Theo d'Or for best actor and actress. It is a festive evening that shines the spotlight on the theatre sector and is celebrated with a healthy dose of humour. The evening kicks off with a big party on stage and an after-party in the Brasserie.
The awards presented are the Theo d'Or for the most impressive female supporting role, the Louis d'Or for the most impressive male supporting role, and the Colombina and the Arlecchino for the most impressive contributing role. The VSDC Mime Award goes to the best mime performance or achievement of the past season, and the Proscenium Award to an essential contribution to the theatre climate. In addition, the Director's Award, the Golden Crickets for best youth theatre performance and best stage performance, and the ACT Award are also presented.
