Tula Herdenkingsconcert
Tula Herdenkingsconcert
The Tula Memorial Concert 2022 is a musical tribute to the Curaçao freedom fighter and resistance fighter Tula (also known as Rigaud).
On 17 August 1795, he was the leader of the largest revolt of enslaved people in the history of the former Dutch Antilles. After being betrayed, Tula was sentenced to death in October of the same year, executed and beheaded by the Dutch colonial authorities. His actions have had an unmistakable impact on the emancipation of enslaved people on Curaçao and other islands within the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
