Vacancy Stage Manager Production

At Internationaal Theater Amsterdam we are looking for a Production Stage Manager to strengthen our creative team with immediate effect. Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) is one of the largest theatres in the country. Our theatre in the heart of Amsterdam is home to our own international ensemble, but also to many other stage and dance artists from the Netherlands and abroad. Your role

As Production Stage Manager you are responsible for the creation and technical realisation of all productions and events produced by ITA. You may be active in both ensemble and programming, and you work independently in both disciplines. You provide leadership to supervisors and ensure good working conditions.

Your work

As Production Stage Manager you are in charge of the daily management on stage during set-up, dismantling and during the performance and you join in as a working leader in the realisation of performances and events. You instruct technicians to solve work-related problems, ensure the quality of their work, identify problems, and you are the first point of contact for work content and working conditions.

As Production Stage Manager you translate the wishes of an artistic team into a technical implementation and offer technical solutions, you actively participate in the creation of the Sound, Light, Video and Set design and you monitor the artistic concept after the premiere. If necessary, you translate the artistic concept to any new location and make maximum use of your knowledge and capacity for improvisation to achieve this. While travelling, you are the manager on location on behalf of the company for cast and crew.

You are responsible for the technical preparation of a performance: such as drafting the Technical Brief, negotiations with international partners about technical requirements for the travel performances and the inventory of deployment of personnel and theatre technical material. You ensure the smooth course of the technical side of the production.

You

• have a big heart for theatre;
• have a degree in theatre technology and knowledge of light, sound and video;
• can work and think at HBO-WO level;
• have been working in the theatre or event industry for at least 5 years and you are aware of the developments in the field;
• make decisions easily and put priorities under pressure.
• have good written and oral command of the English or Dutch language;
• are a team player, creative, positive, stress resistant and flexible;
• have a healthy dose of humour and are socially skilled;
• preferably live in (near) Amsterdam or the surrounding area;
• knowledge of Autocad is an advantage.
