Angelo Ormskerk – International Ibsen Fellow
The promising director Angelo Ormskerk receives the International Ibsen Fellowship, an initiative of the Philip Loubser Foundation. Ormskerk graduated from the Academy of Theatre and Dance and also trained in jazz and modern dance at the Institut de Formation Professionnelle Rick Odums in Paris. He is in the talent development programme of Toneelschuur Producties and ITA, in which he will make two co-productions. Additionally, he collaborates with Danstheater Aya on dance-theatre productions for schools.
“It is a privilege to develop myself as a young theatre director at ITA. Being appointed as an International Ibsen Fellow offers me the opportunity to further refine my artistic skills. I look forward to collaborating with the top-tier actors of ITA Ensemble and eagerly anticipate the creative process of making inspiring productions.” – Angelo Ormskerk
Ormskerk is the second recipient of this fellowship. The first was Maren E. Bjørseth, who, within ITA-2 and in collaboration with Toneelschuur Producties, directed Emilia Galotti and In Wankel Evenwicht.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Internationaal Theater Amsterdam through the Ibsen Artist in Residence and International Ibsen Fellowship. We are delighted to support Rebecca Frecknall and Angelo Ormskerk, both talented directors, as they further develop their artistry and look forward to seeing their creative journeys unfold in the coming years.” – Sally Sparrow, Fellowship Director bij de Philip Loubser Foundation
