Claire Bender

Claire Bender (1993) grew up in The Hague and graduated from the Toneelacademie Maastricht in 2016. At ITA she previously played in Ibsen house (directed by Simon Stone) and Scenes from a Marriage (directed by Ivo van Hove).

In season 21|22 she can be seen in the revival of Children of Nora (directed by Robert Icke).

Claire graduated from the Toneelacademie Maastricht in 2016. During her studies Claire did an internship with leading theatre companies like Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) in the play Liliom (TA-2, directed by Julie van den Berghe) and Theater Utrecht in Thibaud Delpeut's performances Stad der Blinden and Een soort Hades. For her graduation performance Volksvernietiging of mijn leven is zinloos (directed by Johan Simons) Claire received an ITs Award at the ITs festival in Amsterdam.

Next to acting, Claire is also in front of the camera. For example, she plays the role of Marietje in seasons 1 and 2 of the absurdist comedy series Rundfunk (directed by RobLücker). In 2019 she could be seen in Morten (directed by Jean van de Velde). In this eight-part political thriller series, based on the trilogy of the same name by Anna Levander, Claire plays a double main role.

Claire can still be seen in performances of ITA and Theater Utrecht. At ITA she plays until now in Ibsen house (directed by Simon Stone) and since September 2020 she can be seen as Nora in Robert Icke's adaptation of Ibsen's Doll's house: Children of Nora. At Theater Utrecht she plays in pieces like Westkaai, Platonov and Thuislozen (homeless), all directed by Thibaud Delpeut.

Claire can be seen in the English television series Van der Valk (NPO Start), the video series Mocro Maffia and soon in a new web series by the VPRO. In the summer of 2020, she made three short films, including the film Demi by Rachel van Bruggen in which Claire plays the title role.
