Edwin Jonker
After graduating from HAVO and VWO, Edwin Jonker studied History for two years at the University of Amsterdam. After that, he made the switch to acting.
In previous seasons, he performed in the theatre as Wet Harry in Sister Act, as Curtis in the grand tour of Dreamgirls and as the lead in A Chorus Line. Before that, he performed in the musicals Home (Julius), Rent (Tom Collins), Copacabana (Ricco), The Lion King (Mufasa), Billie Holiday (including Lester Young) and Miss Saigon (John). In 2018, he starred in the tours of The Color Purple and Driving Miss Daisy, followed by the role of Oliver Warbucks in the musical Annie in 2019.
In 2001 he received a John Kraaykamp Musical Award for Best Male Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the role of Tom Collins in Rent and in 2013 he was nominated for the same award for his portrayal of the role of Wet Harry in Sister Act.
In season 22|23 he can be seen at ITA in the revival of A Little Life.
He played in the films Oesters van Nam Kee, Madame Jeannette, Trage Liefde, Stiletto's, Vox Populi, Polonaise and Bella Bettien. He made a great impression alongside Isa Hoes with the leading role in the feature film De Ontsnapping, appeared in Tuintje in mijn Hart and the feature films F*ck de Liefde and De Club van Lelijke Kinderen. Edwin also regularly voices animated films, he was the Dutch voice of Will Smith in the animated film Shark Tale and can be heard as the Dutch Jeronimus Jangle in the Netflix Christmas film Jingle Jangle.
-|-Edwin also appeared on TV in various series: he played the role of Melvin Klamer in Trauma 24/7, played in Costa, Wet En Waan, Spangen, Baantjer, Alex FM, Lotte, Meiden van de Wit, Voetbalvrouwen, Van God Los (the series) and in the Belgian crime series Recht op Recht. On Videoland, you can see him in the comedy series Vaders & Moeders. In Ninja Nanny he played the role of Stanley and he played the role of Jesus in The Passion 2019. Last year, Edwin appeared almost daily as Richard van Nooten in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden and he can be seen on NETFLIX in Just Say Yes and F*ck de Liefde 2.
