Baldwin & de literaire wereld
For this special edition at ITA, initiator Sharily Ortela delves into the work, era, and world of James Baldwin together with experts who have extensively studied and analyzed his writing, bringing together a range of perspectives and insights.
Which voices shaped his political vision? What did his time in Paris mean for his artistic development? And how does his work resonate today in the arts, in society, and in our personal lives? This in‑depth yet accessible conversation offers new entry points into Baldwin’s oeuvre, as well as into the stories that continue to shape us.
This program is a collaboration between Reading in Black and Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, accompanying Eline Arbo’s current stage adaptation of the novel Giovanni’s Room.
