In the theater evening Chaos in de Westerse wereld, historian Beatrice de Graaf convincingly shows how the present feels strikingly similar to earlier times, yet also reassuringly different. How can we, with knowledge of the past, recognize the latent danger to democratic rule, or, on the other hand, put our fears into perspective?
