Hiphop is erfgoed
Hiphop is erfgoed takes you into the world of hip-hop. In this edition, we highlight what hip-hop means for Amsterdam Zuidoost, as well as how hip-hop from Zuidoost has inspired and influenced the rest of the Netherlands. We look beyond hip-hop as a musical genre and explore it as a rich form of cultural heritage and a powerful social movement. Along the way, we zoom in on the important role women play within this culture. The evening concludes with a performance.

Hiphop is erfgoed
Many of us have items at home that tell the story of the Dutch hip-hop scene: audio and video recordings, flyers, photos, and merchandise. Through a network of hip-hop hubs, community living rooms, researchers, and creators, we are collectively building a shared memory — a memory created by and for hip-hop culture. In doing so, we keep ownership of our heritage and ensure that key moments are preserved and passed on to the next generation.
Foundation Hiphop Centre Stichting connects street and club culture and uses hip-hop as both a creative and educational tool to empower young people. Talent development, knowledge sharing, and community building are at the heart of their work.
After previous editions during ADE and Lieve Stad, Foundation returns to the Bookshop on Thursday, 12 February.
