Fascinating meditative and minimalist dance program:
Squares (Hans van Manen)
Squares is a treasured masterpiece that has been in Introdans' repertoire for 30 years. The choreography is timeless and cast-iron in its simplicity. The award-winning choreographer considers Squares one of his best creations. This piece also marks the beginning of the collaboration between Hans van Manen and Roel Voorintholt in the 1990s. An elegant light frame above the black-glossy raised dance floor defines the dancers and their white costumes. Erik Satie's music sets the minimalist tone.
Canto Ostinato (Lucinda Childs)
Canto Ostinato thrills many. Not only because of the composition by Simeon ten Holt, but also the choreography of the same name by renowned American choreographer Lucinda Childs. Introdans cherishes the repertoire of this American ‘queen of minimalist dance’. Maximally dancing to minimal music, her work demands the utmost from the dancers. For the audience, Canto Ostinato has a meditative effect.
Traces (Fernando Melo)
The grand gestures and museum-like simplicity in the work of Brazilian Fernando Melo are appealing. For this new choreography (world premiere), Melo is collaborating with Arnhem-based Fillip Studios for the digital staging. Fillip Studios can, like no other, innovatively portray the classic theatrical magic Melo loves so much.

New work (Igor Bacovich and Iratxe Ansa)
The lyrical formal language of the Italian-Spanish duo Igor Bacovich and Iratxe Ansa also impresses. Their own company Metamorphosis Dance garnered international praise with their sculptural choreographies. For this commission (world premiere) by Introdans, Bacovich and Ansa are collaborating with Spanish set designer Marta Pazos. Color is the aesthetic starting point in her staging. Bacovich danced a.o. with Krisztina de Chatel and Nanine Linning and Iratxe danced a.o. with Nederlands Dans Theater.
Fractus V (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui)
Versatile Flemish-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui uses Alan Watts' (1915-1973) philosophy of letting go of worrisome thoughts. Not wasting time with what is behind you or hasn't happened yet. It is an exhortation to break away from an endless stream of thoughts of "what ifs. In this short excerpt from the choreography Fractus V, a number of dancers reflect on Watts' words with their body language and hand gesture
