Mirage
In Mirage, choreographer Damien Jalet and visual artist Kohei Nawa create a world in constant flux. To the music of producer Thomas Bangalter, a sensory and meditative journey emerges. It is Jalet’s first work for the Ballet du Grand Théâtre and the latest chapter in his long-running collaboration with Nawa. Together, they explore what happens when the human body is placed inside a landscape shaped by illusion, transformation and nature.

Mirage
The piece takes inspiration from mirages and fata morganas – optical illusions caused by shifting layers of air and light. On stage, that idea becomes physical. Dancers move through a metaphorical desert, searching for grounding, identity and meaning as their bodies are pushed through continuous change.
Performers seem to shed layers of themselves, moving through different physical and emotional states. At times, Mirage feels like a vision of a civilisation on the brink; at others, it bursts with colour, sensuality, and raw energy drawn from tropical landscapes. -|-
Mirage is a creation based on the project Mirage [transitory], produced and organised by Sandwich Inc, Zero-Ten Inc, Super Massive Global Co. Ltd, sponsored by Yoshimura Holdings and presented in Fukuoka (Japan) in September 2024.
