Planet [wanderer]
Planet [wanderer]
Shows
Following their first opus Vessel, choreographer Damien Jalet and visual artist Kohei Nawa now present their response. Planet [wanderer] builds on the etymology of the word planet, which comes from the Greek planaomai and means 'to wander, to roam'. Jalet and Nawa see the world as a celestial body adrift, and that being adrift is the primary characteristic of all bodies in this universe. Planet [wanderer] is a raw, deep-rooted and dreamlike love story between people and the planet they are attached to.
A visual spectacle on the cutting edge of dance and visual art.
Starting time: 8 p.m.
Duration: 70 minutes, excl. intermission

Intriguing, hypnotic, seductive... This second opus of the duo, after Vessel which reminded us of Bosch's silhouettes, is an artistic experience, an immersion in which all the senses are appealed to... An hour-long hypnotic composition that you will not want to leave. - Connaissance des Arts
Planet [wanderer] by Jalet-Kohei sets the bar very high for this new season for performing arts. A breathtaking performance of grace, ingenuity and beauty' - L'œil d'Olivier
Planet [wanderer] builds on the etymology of the word planet, which comes from the Greek planaomai, meaning ‘to roam, or to wander’. Jalet and Nawa see the planet as a celestial body adrift, and think that being adrift is the distinguishing feature of all bodies in this universe.
Choreographer and dancer Damien Jalet became fascinated by the work of Kohei Nawa and contacted him for a partnership. During a four-month joint residency at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, Jalet’s wish came true, and they created Vessel.
-|-Planet [wanderer] walks a fine line between scientific laboratory and mythological tale from Kojiki, the oldest Japanese books about the creation of the world. The performance explores various phases of connection and separation, harmoniousness and fragility, violence and destruction.
Planet [wanderer] is a raw, visceral and dreamlike love story between humans and the planet to which they are bound.
