Ivo van Hove appointed Commandeur
Yesterday, in the presence of family, friends and representatives of the Dutch cultural authorities, Ivo van Hove was awarded in the 'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres' at the French residence in The Hague. Previously, Ivo was appointed Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, then Officer in 2017 and yesterday Commandeur, the highest rank in the Order.
His Excellency Mr. François Alabrune, Ambassador of France to the Netherlands, praised Ivo in his speech for his work in the Netherlands, France and far beyond. "Your theatre is life. It is experimental theatre for the 'big hall'. Our country is fully aware of your immense talent and now wishes to express its deepest gratitude by awarding you France's highest distinction in art and literature, that of Commandeur. Continue to nourish, challenge and move us."
We warmly congratulate Ivo on receiving this special award.
