Bart Bijnens

Bart Bijnens (1992) attended the Toneelacademie Maastricht and studied at the École Philippe Gaulier in France. After graduating from the Toneelacademie in 2017, Bart has been working for the Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and acted in reruns of The Hidden Force and Oedipus. Bart also acted for Toneelgroep Maastricht, Het Nationale Theater, Opera Zuid, De Toneelschuur and Theaterproductiehuis Zeelandia, among others. Due to his affiliation with Cultura Nova, Bart participated in Centriphery, an international collaboration for interdisciplinary artists. This project saw Bart working for Dansehallerne in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In season 21|22 he will perform in the premiere of The Damned (directed by Ivo van Hove). With Theatergroep Suburbia, Bart will also feature in Mamma Medea by Tom Lanoye, directed by Olivier Diepenhorst. He will also work with the internationally renowned theatre companies Glad Teater (DK) and Complicité (UK).

British director Robert Icke - Ibsen Artist in Residence at ITA - is known for his high-profile adaptations of classical pieces. With the ITA ensemble he made a modern version of Sophocles' Oedipus, in which Oedipus is a politician in the 21st century who finds out the greatest secret of his life.
