All the Lonely People

Actress Jacqueline Blom, supported by a colourful cast of multi-performers, steps into the lives of people who died alone. Together they reconstruct the absurd, vivid life stories of those who existed beyond society's gaze, playing their neighbour, absent family members and the funeral director. What happened to these people that led them to die in such profound isolation?

Former Composer Laureate and Boy Edgar Prize winner Martin Fondse combines jazz with arias and chorales by Bach, and will perform on stage himself. Mart van Berckel directs. His work is visual, poetic and boundlessly imaginative, as previously seen in productions for NITE and De Nationale Opera. The show is based on stories gathered by journalist and poet Joris van Casteren for de Volkskrant in the series De Eenzame Uitvaart.

The Nederlands Theater Festival (NTF) marks the official start of the new theatre season each year. For eleven days, starting on the first Thursday in September, the festival presents a selection of the finest and most impressive productions of the past year in Amsterdam.
