Battlefield of Dreams
Our wombs are the most political organs we possess. Although deeply hidden within our bellies, they also seem to be common property. Power is exerted over them, rights are claimed upon them, and above all: everyone has an opinion about whether and how we use them. This is especially true when it comes to abortions and fertility treatments such as IVF. But unless you experience it from up close, you can never imagine how impactful these experiences are both psychologically and physically. The pain, shame, or perhaps even joy they cause.
That's why Battlefield of Dreams transforms the theatre into a fertility and abortion clinic where fiction and reality intersect. Battlefield of Dreams reveals the invisible and unheard stories about the 'to be or not to be's' that we carry with us. Both ends of the spectrum, abortion and IVF, are presented on stage from different perspectives.

Battlefield of Dreams…
... tells the story of women who do or do not have the right to choose and undergo all medical procedures.
... is the story of men who undeniably are part of the reproductive issue, both in private and public spheres; as victims of the system and as perpetrators of that same system.
... is the story of (gender)queers who introduce important and new perspectives on this issue and sharpen our interpretations of parenthood.
Battlefield of Dreams is a (music) theatre performance, documentary, and opera all in one. With female, male, and non-binary artists of various ages and cultural backgrounds, we create an ongoing 'circle of life'.
