Drawing on her dual roots — Brabant and Sierra Leone — Sarah Janneh makes music and stories about the search for where you belong. Sometimes raw, sometimes comforting, always personal and close to the bone.
In her search to truly belong somewhere, Sarah Janneh always felt caught between two extremes. Black and white. Brabant and Sierra Leone. Singer and actress. Loud and quiet. Full of life and afraid to die. Happy and grieving. With this solo show, Sarah Janneh embraces the richness of these dualities rather than choosing one.

In this musical performance she looks back on the different phases of her turbulent life. A dose of self-reflection, resilience and the courage to be vulnerable help her to gradually find her footing — on how her past has shaped her life, on what it means to be at home somewhere. Her search for belonging takes her from carnival in Brabant to the outskirts of Johannesburg and ultimately to her father's house in Sierra Leone.
