Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart
Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart
Shows
L-E-V (Hebrew for heart) was founded by Sharon Eyal and DJ/producer Gai Behar. Almost immediately after its inception, the company entered the premier league of dance. Eyal's work is dark, hypnotic, sexy, rousing and alienating, and it is performed at the very highest level. In Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart, eight dancers embark on an intense journey through the ups and downs of love relationships. Explosive contemporary dance based on classical dance alternates with ‘moves’ taken from vogueing - not without an ironic wink. With costumes by Maria Grazia Chiuri, head designer of Dior. After Part 1 (OCD Love) and Part 2 (Love Chapter 2), we get the final part of The Love Cycle trilogy to Amsterdam with Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart.

The Guardian calls Eyal 'one of the most disconcerting and original choreographers of our time.' She learned the trade with the famous Batsheva Dance Company, as a dancer and artistic assistant of Ohad Naharin, and then conquered the world on her own. 'Eyal understands the art of speaking through dance,' the New York Times wrote. 'It is very precise, but at the same time powerful and physical. She turns the body inside out if necessary'.
As always, the duo knows how to strike the right balance between the darkest emotions, beauty and light-heartedness in its new performance. -|-
The sensual atmosphere of the dance is enhanced by the bodysuit-like costumes by Maria Grazia Chiuri, head designer at Dior.
Festival Julidans, which has its festivalheart at ITA, has been working with L-E-V from the very beginning. OCD Love and Love Chapter 2 were performed at Julidans in 2015 and 2017. Julidans also co-produced these shows. Both times, audiences and critics were wildly enthusiastic. De Volkskrant: 'Sizzlingly original and executed with extreme precision. Every movement, every pose was given a surprising and alienating twist.'
Costumes by Dior
Glimpse Maria Grazia Chiuri’s & Christian Dior Couture creation process of the costumes for ‘Chapter 3: The Brutal Journey of the Heart’, the third part in a trilogy about love created by L-E-V/ Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar.
The performance expresses the heart’s reparation process, pain and adversities overcome, like an evocation of nature and feelings recalling Monsieur Dior’s passions.
