Selected by the official jury selection 2024

This performance searches for beauty in ugliness. Because what one person considers tasteless, another finds beautiful. Together with the audience, we explore what is actually meant by the word "success". Who decides what is cool or beautiful and why? Who decides whether something is Art, or can be destroyed immediately? Don't we care too much about the judgment of others?

Diarree is mijn lievelingskleur playfully combines explosive theater with puppetry, sculpture, action painting and music. It is Studio Julian Hetzel's first performance for a young audience, as part of their ongoing artistic investigation into the paradox of creation through destruction. Oh shit, this smells like art!

Nominated for the VSCD MIME Performance prize 2024 and featuring Willemijn Zevenhuizen, winner of the Zilveren Krekel 2024 for the most impressive performance in a youth theater production. This performance was also selected by the Flemish Jury Selection.

From the mime performance jury report

"Diarree is mijn lievelingskleur demonstrates the joy of taking matters into one's own hands and in doing so delivers a wonderful example of the social importance of art. Rarely has a performance been more disruptive and then in such a delightful way. "

From the Silver Cricket Jury Report

"Willemijn Zevenhuijzen's role in Diarree is mijn lievelingskleur is the provisional crowning achievement of one of the country's best physical actors, who knows how to continually move and surprise in youth theater. Masterfully, Zevenhuijzen peels off the various layers of her character."

From the Flemish Jury Report

"A performance that can trigger so much, that is something you don't see very often. She plays on so many layers, at least more than the average youth performance last season. Simultaneously dazzling, moving and grim: diarrhea never tasted so good."

REVIEWS

De Standaard

“Backstage becomes frontstage and the audience participates: we have seen this before in productions by Theater Artemis and Julian Hetzel. But what if our physical backstage gets a starring role?.... A shit show you must see.”

De Volkskrant

“Those who love anarchy are in for a treat.”
