DORIAN: portret van een onstilbare
The Picture of Dorian Gray is filled with implicit references to homosexuality and drug use, but Wilde wrote it at a time when homosexuality was a criminal offense — he was himself convicted in 1895. More than a century later, its themes remain strikingly relevant: in an age of digital self-fashioning, eternal youth seems more attainable than ever, while LGBTQIA2S+ people around the world still face exclusion, violence, and a diminished sense of safety. DORIAN: portret van een onstilbare seeks to uncover Wilde’s original, uncensored story — stripped of masks and taboos.

DORIAN: portret van een onstilbare
A modern-day Dorian Gray, played by Rowan Kievits, discovers his beauty when a close artist friend paints his portrait. Driven by a desire for eternal youth, he dives into nightlife. He explores the power of his desirability, engaging in fleeting romances with men, often under the influence.

But he harbors a dark secret: while he remains untouched by age, his portrait grows increasingly grotesque. As he slowly becomes alienated from those around him—and from himself—his craving for endless pleasure takes a dangerous turn. A psychological trip that probes questions of aesthetics and ethics, pleasure, happiness, and the limits of self-moulding.
Over Club WILD
