Workshop by Armin Hokmi | 5 July
During Julidans, Armin Hokmi will lead a 90-minute workshop for all levels (ages 16+), taking place in the studio.
Armin Hokmi is an Iranian choreographer and performer, born in Bushehr and working between Berlin and Oslo. His work is characterized by hypnotic movement patterns in which repetition, rhythm, and collective energy take center stage. From seemingly simple movements, layered structures emerge, with bodies continuously responding to one another and collectively creating new forms.-|-
He draws inspiration from history, rituals, and intercultural encounters, resulting in performances that are both intense and sensorial. From 2024 to 2026, he is an associate artist at the renowned Montpellier Danse festival.
Workshop by Zora Snake | 11 July
In the context of his new work Combat des Lianes, Zora Snake explores the duality between humankind and nature, and the impact of our ecosystem on living beings. Drawing on his immersive journey into the forests of eastern and western Cameroon — where he brought the entire artistic team with him — the choreographer revisits the rituals of the Baka communities of Cameroon, an indigenous people on the verge of disappearance. A dance of deconstructed polyphonies within bodies, each one a manifesto in its own right.-|-
In this workshop, choreographer Zora Snake will share part of his creative process. Participants will also be invited to experiment the boundaries between dance and artistic performance, drawing on the body's resources and vital energies freed from our individual vocabularies. The workshop will further address gesture, form, space, movement and dramaturgy as "decolonial aesthetics" of dance on the African continent.
Workshop by Andreas Hannes | 12 July
During Julidans, Andreas Hannes also will give a workshop in the studio.
Andreas Hannes develops a distinctive movement practice in which rhythm, gravity, and vibration shape the body. His work moves between dance, music, and visual art, exploring how movement emerges in relation to space and environment.-|-
With a background in classical percussion and film, he graduated from the SNDO in 2018 with The City. Since then, he has developed an ongoing practice around skipping and related movements, earning awards such as the BNG Dance Award (2020) and being selected for Aerowaves (2022).
