With a background in hip-hop culture Shailesh Bahoran collaborates with ICK Dans Amsterdam to explore new territories with dancers from the ensemble, who have classical or contemporary backgrounds.
Shailesh Bahoran received the De Zwaan for "most impressive dance production" with AVATARA created in partnership with the Duda Paiva Company.

Het Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest (AAO) performs from Granada to Baghdad and has several successful theater productions to its credit, including REMLA, ZIEL|ROUH, and Jihad van Liefde.
Over the past few years, ICK Dans Amsterdam has become Amsterdam's city dance company and has been engaged in numerous national and international co-productions.
About Shailesh Bahoran
Shailesh Bahoran is a Surinamese-Hindustani choreographer, dancer and theatre maker. With firm roots in hip-hop culture, he has specialised both solo and with his IRC in street-based dance styles of popping and breaking. Bahoran has worked with Het Nationale Ballet, Don't Hit Mama, Het Nederlands Symfonieorkest, Conny Janssen Danst and ISH Dance Collective, among others.
