In this world, everyone goes crazy. Yes, even you. No one knows what is real and what is fiction anymore. Surviving is more a happy coincidence than the result of deliberate action. So, we are all the foolish hero with good intentions, Don Quixote. Or not? How much madness can you hear in one performance? How many unlikely events can you straighten out in your own mind?

In Not Quichot, six storytellers remember their good friend Q, but who was Q’s best friend? Through bold tales, they take you on their adventures with Q across all of Europe, through mountains, forests, past farmers’ protests and burning libraries. No other duo than writer Joachim Robbrecht and director Sarah Moeremans could so elegantly deconstruct a classic like Don Quixote, pulling out its strongest elements from the wreckage.
About Sarah Moeremans:
Sarah Moeremans is the artistic director of Het Zuidelijk Toneel. Since 2021, she has been involved as a regular director and co-artistic leader with the company. Her work is philosophical with a touch of satire, with language as its main foundation. Since 2013, she has been working regularly with writer Joachim Robbrecht. At Het Zuidelijk Toneel, she created, among others, the audience favorite Shut Up and Play With Me (nominated for the VSCD Mime/Performance Award), the theater experience What Ever Happened to Mr. Pete?, and the absolute Oerol hit Rijgen.
