Podcastopname Rise of the Rainbow - episode: loss and unity
In the lead-up to the immersive theatre experience Rise of the Rainbow — showing from July 26 in the Rabozaal at ITA during Amsterdam Pride — a series of live podcast recordings will take place at The Bookshop. In each session, we sit down with remarkable guests from the LGBTQIA+ community to explore the themes and stories that also take center stage in the theatre experience.
Each session features two episode recordings, with a short break (and a free drink!) in between. The conversations are hosted by Thomas de Bres.

Loss and Unity
In this episode, we talk to Gerrit-Jan Wielinga — author of Maan in Ram, former campaign manager at COC Netherlands, and founder of Bi+ Nederland — and Charlot Pierik, project manager at Movisie. Together, we explore the themes of loss and connection. How does the community deal with loss? And where lies the power of coming together?

We’re also joined by Eva Kröse (graphic designer) and Charlotte van den Reek (choreographer), who share insights into the visual design of part of the experience — and the exciting interplay between digital and analogue art forms.
About Pride
In 2025, Pride Amsterdam is all about LOVE – as a unifying force in a world full of division. This year, once again, ITA opens its doors during Pride to celebrate love in all its forms, placing love, diversity, and inclusion at the heart of everything we do. The program you're currently viewing is part of ITA Pride. Together, we celebrate, raise awareness, and continue building a world where everyone is free to be themselves.
