About
Second Nature brings together makers who not only have a classical background, but are also affiliated with urban dance in which ideas, emotions and stories are expressed in a more intuitive way. Bedroom Folk by Israeli choreographers Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar was praised by both the press and the public in 2015. The choreographies by Eyal and Behar are hypnotic, wild, daring and energetic and appeal to both young and old.
Solo Echo by Crystal Pite received much praise in 2012. A series of duets, to Sonatas by Brahms for cello and piano, shows interpersonal relationships against the background of a winter setting. Crystal Pite's poignant work never shies away from exploring the physical capacity and the relationship of the individual in relation to the group. She has been an associate choreographer at the Nederlands Dans Theater since 2008.
Imre van Opstal and Marne van Opstal created their very first work for NDT 1. Brother and sister van Opstal have won several prizes as dancers and came to prominence as a choreography duo with their work for NDT 2. They created work for the programme Up & Coming Choreographers (2014 and 2015) and The Grey for the programme Smoke and Mirrors (2017) of NDT 2.
