Theatercollege Michiel Vos en Tim de Wit - Het Amerika van Trump
What do Americans think about Trump? Europeans are mostly complaining and screaming. In America, everyone is pretty much okay with it. Just do it! Trump exudes enormous energy, he challenges and starts a trade war. He feels betrayed, to use his own terms, by the rest of the world: NATO, the EU, and trade interests, and wants to take everything and everyone back. Is he keeping his election promises? Is America getting stronger, or is it losing its position of power.

Theatercollege: Michiel Vos & Tim de Wit - Het Amerika van Trump
According to Michiel Vos, America is a mess where everyone is fighting with each other. America is our example, but it's also a warning. America fights the good fight as well as the bad. It entertains us, it informs us, and in a sense, America's struggle is our struggle. America is an extreme version of ourselves, and through that, it offers us perspective.
This theater lecture is a combination of journalist Tim de Wit and storyteller Michiel Vos. In practice, they complement each other surprisingly well. Tim leads and asks the questions. Tim remarkably sharp and has pace. Michiel may be less journalistic, but he has wonderful anecdotes and a great sense of humor. To illustrate, Michiel uses clips from legendary American films.
Michiel Vos is a renowned journalist and U.S. correspondent. He lives in the heart of bustling New York and serves as the bridge between the Netherlands and the U.S. He frequently appears on well-known talk shows and is often seen on RTL News, where he passionately explains American culture and politics. Of all Dutch journalists, he is the closest to America's icons.
