Ujala's Holi Festival

The Holi festival has its origins in ancient India and is celebrated by more than 1.5 billion people every year. The celebration is a combination of a spring festival, New Year celebration and a celebration of the victory of good over evil.

The message is universal: we are all equal, regardless of origin, colour, preferences, religion, wealth or status. Especially in a city like Amsterdam, with all its variety and diversity, this message should be embraced even more intensely at this time.

Besides typical Holi songs, a fantastic selection of Bollywood songs will be performed.

FESTIVAL LIEVE STAD,

Amsterdam is a city of many faces. Lieve Stad, – a celebration of theatre, art, and dialogue – reflects the dynamics of that metropolitan environment, in which the city itself is a source of inspiration. This festival, a collaboration between ITA and Meervaart, is about bringing people together, in the city, in the theatre, in society. How do we live together and what stories do all individuals and groups carry with them?
