De Suriname Trilogie
This autumn, the successful productions Woiski vs. Woiski, De Gliphoeve and Stepping Stones will return to the theatre for a one-off run as De Suriname Trilogie. These three productions, spanning a hundred years of Surinamese-Dutch history, saw the musical theatre company Orkater and Bijlmer Parktheater make theatre history between 2018 and 2024. De Suriname Trilogie is the theatrical finale of the year in which we commemorate 50 years of Surinamese independence and can be seen this autumn in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
From November 2026, Orkater, Bijlmer Parktheater and ITA will present the three productions for one final time. De Suriname Trilogie spans an era of hope, adversity, connection and vitality: from Woiski vs. Woiski in the 1930s and 1950s in Paramaribo and Amsterdam, through the squatted De Gliphoeve block of flats in the Bijlmer in the 1970s, to the dreams and dilemmas of the third generation today in Stepping Stones. Directed by Geert Lageveen, under the inspiring musical direction of Gery Mendes and featuring the entire original cast, including Manoushka Zeegelaar Breeveld, Daniël Kolf, Dionne Verwey, Michiel Blankwaardt and Mike Libanon. Acclaimed by audiences and the press, and awarded at the Dutch Theatre Festival - these three productions undoubtedly belong to the Dutch theatre canon.
De Suriname Trilogiecan be seen from 14 to 27 November at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam.
