Redo, Denden en Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest

Are our worlds really that different, or do we have more in common than thought? That question is at the heart of the autobiographical performance REMLA. Propelled by music from the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, dancers Redouan Ait Chitt and Denden Karadeniz - well known in the world of hip-hop & breaking - go in search of connection. That search starts by taking a first step, with their roots as the starting point.

During the premiere at De Meervaart in February 2022, Redo suffered a serious injury that forced the cancellation of the rest of the tour. He has since fully recovered and we are delighted that this performance will still be seen.

Amsterdam is a city of many faces. Lieve Stad, – a celebration of theatre, art, and dialogue – reflects the dynamics of that metropolitan environment, in which the city itself is a source of inspiration. This festival, a collaboration between ITA and Meervaart, is about bringing people together, in the city, in the theatre, in society. How do we live together and what stories do all individuals and groups carry with them?
