Trojan Wars
Welcome to the most famous war in history. For five hours, immerse yourself in the battle between the Greeks and the Trojans. How does war affect people? How far are you willing to go for your ideals? What will you do if your life is truly on the line? How much can you take before it radically changes who you are? An astonishing binge-watch marathon on the fascinating and destructive power of war.
Starting time: 5 p.m.
Duration: 300 minutes, incl. intermission
Location: Grote Zaal
Language: Dutch
To make Trojan Wars happen, HNTjong will transform the theatre into a festival area. A massive group of actors plays an immense amount of characters and takes you on a marathon of adventures and clashes that together form the Trojan Wars. Just like in a Netflix show, except that it’s happening right in front of your face. There will be food and dancing in between performances, and when it’s all over, we will celebrate victory – hopefully.
-|-Playwright Peer Wittenbols turns the epic tales from Homer’s The Iliad into a current-day theatre spectacle about friendship, betrayal, revenge, and love. Director Noël Fischer takes her inspiration from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. She explains: “The Greek classics are still so contemporary, because they are about big, primary human emotions: anger and desire. And about the unique phenomenon that separates us from animals: war.”
