The Wall

“In the fascinating monologue The Wall, you see what happens when humanity can only rely on nature.” – de Volkskrant ★★★★

Marlen Haushofer wrote The Wall in 1963 in full Cold War time, a period of political paranoia and nuclear threat. The post-apocalyptic novel derives its power from the penetrating description of the symbiotic coexistence of humans and animals. Director Eline Arbo adapted the novel into an intimate monologue for Chris Nietvelt. The Wall tells the story of a woman in the mountains who encounters an invisible, impenetrable wall that completely isolates her from the rest of the world and has to survive in inhospitable nature.
