A seat at the table is a razor-sharp theatre performance about the feeling of love and hatred for our homeland. A moving, humorous and critical portrait of how racism manifests itself in our society. Countrymen, welcome.” In A seat at the table, young theatre maker Saman Amini, together with three other actors, goes in search of the motives behind the clash of cultures that he experiences around him.

Saman Amini (1989, Tehran) fled to the Netherlands at the age of eleven with his mother and sister. Here, he rapidly discovered his passion for Dutch language and music. In 2014 he graduated from the drama academy in Maastricht. At the beginning of 2017, the NRC Handelsblad proclaimed him one of the 'rising stars' of that year.

In June 2017, A seat at the table achieved high acclaim at the Oerol festival on Terschelling. TV presenter Cornald Maas called it a 'very necessary and exciting performance', the Theaterkrant awarded it five stars. NRC Handelsblad awarded the performance five balls and A seat at the table ended up in fifth place in the annual list of Volkskrant critic Herien Wensink.

De wereld volgens John (The world according to John) is a fired-up story about male friendship. But also an indictment by the 'normal Dutchman' who is increasingly bothered by the people who are throwing away his 'beautiful country': sneering bosses, complaining newcomers and women who do not k...

Small Town Boy – a reference to Bronski Beat’s most famous hit, from 1984 – tells the story of a boy from the country who cannot identify with the world imposed upon him as he grows up. Fleeing repression and lack of recognition, he moves to the big city. To Berlin, London, Amsterdam; free-thin...
