Language that says everything without saying anything
Why do we speak in such complicated ways when we are actually trying to understand each other? In Ga lekker zélf in je kracht staan, Japke-d. Bouma dissects the irritating jargon of meetings, management and policy language. She shows how language gets filled with clichés, buzzwords and euphemistic jargon.-|-
But it is not only about laughing at workplace annoyances. With humour and sharp observation, she also explores what this language does to the way we think, collaborate and make decisions. Why we often understand each other less than we think, and why everyone keeps repeating the same linguistic trends.
According to Bouma, it can be different: clearer, more direct and more human. And above all, a lot less exhausting
