Mother Courage
Europe in the near future, the continent is embroiled in a protracted war. Mother Courage (Tamar van den Dop) travels with her three young adult children following the troops. It's her best chance to survive, so she sells the soldiers everything they need for the battle; boots, beer, food, and weapons. With fiery determination, Mother Courage tries to keep her family together in a world torn apart by war. At all costs.

Liesbeth Coltof creates a modern version of Bertolt Brecht's classic: "I have met them: the Courages of this world. Women who try to raise their children in the hell of war or occupation. Mothers in the poor neighborhoods of Cleveland (USA), Sao Paulo, or Ter Apel for whom life is a war zone every day. They are not kind women, kindness is reserved for those who live in peace and prosperity. But they never give up, through the stress and sorrow they stand firm. Underneath their tough exterior and despite the injustice, they retain their humanity with a courage that is hard for us to imagine. In this performance, I aim to provide them with the rightful position they deserve."
