Wasted Skin
Being touched is a primary necessity of life – you feel that you exist. Skin hunger, that's what the craving for physical intimacy is also called. Right now, with the coronavirus, the open-mindedness of physical contact has been affected. What does this do to us?
Start time 19:30
Duration 70 min
Location Rabozaal
Language Language No Problem
WASTED SKIN celebrates the beauty and power of body language. The performance is built up with contrasting parts that sometimes end abruptly, then suddenly start again. Ivgi&Greben magnify the desire and loneliness with a whimsical hot/cold mix – emotionless, sometimes mechanical – to make these feelings even more tangible for the audience.
Ivgi & Greben
Uri Ivgi and Johan Greben have been creating dance performances at home and abroad since 2003, with different dancers in different cities. Wherever they have worked, their quality has been acknowledged and they have regularly received awards, for example in Moscow, where they received the Golden Mask Award for Best Choreographer in Ballet/Contemporary Dance. Now the time has come to land their entire artistic oeuvre, their commitment and their international experience in their own company in a permanent location, in Leeuwarden.
As makers, Ivgi&Greben are entering a new phase in their development with this evening-length piece. They work with their own new company and commit themselves to these dancers for a long time. As a new Frisian company based in Leeuwarden, Ivgi&Greben can establish their own place in the Dutch dance scene and take the audience along on the long-term development of their artistic oeuvre.
