Julidans, the international festival of contemporary dance, is internationally renowned for its unusual and daring dance programming. The festival likes to look across borders. Literally: to dance makers from other countries and (dance) cultures. And figuratively: to different approaches to dance. Besides the great masters, Julidans presents new, promising choreographers and gives them the opportunity to show their work for the first time on the big stage. Julidans also makes way for dance makers who are on the verge of an (international) breakthrough. In them we see the new icons of dance.
1 - 16 July 2021
The summer of 2021 will provide the stage for the 30th edition of Julidans. After a year of lockdowns and livestreams, we are pleased to present a distinct programme that you can experience live in the theatres from 1 to 16 July.
Our motto this year is NEVER STOP DANCING. Different generations of choreographers inspire each other, make crossovers with other art forms or respond to social themes. Different locations in Amsterdam, with Internationaal Theater Amsterdam as beating heart, present the great masters, enfants terribles and new icons of contemporary dance. Groundbreaking, daring and surprising performances inspire connoisseurs and curious minds alike.
