Nacht Na de Dam
During Nacht Na de Dam, audiences and theatre makers from all corners of the city gather at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) to meet each other and discuss the commemoration and the performances.
Once again this year, ITA is the place for theatre makers and audiences to experience the special transition from 4 to 5 May together after the performances of Theater Na de Dam. This time, the audience is welcome in the ITA Bookshop. There we will watch the live broadcast of Vuur van de Vrijheid (Fire of Freedom) together. The bar will be open.
Admission is free, but you do need to “buy” a ticket (0 euro's).
Location The Bookshop

About (R)oma Courage
The post-performance discussion Nacht na de dam is in the context of the performance (R)oma Courage by Giovanni Brand & Theater Na de Dam Producties. (R)oma Courage tells the story of a war photographer who put down her camera after she herself became a victim of violence. For years, she travelled to conflict zones and took pictures that were seen around the world. When an old photograph is unexpectedly sold for a record amount, her name resurfaces. An interviewer asks her for one conversation. What begins as a look back at her career shifts into a confrontational conversation about her past, her origins and what was kept secret. The performance starts with the question of why Bertolt Brecht left Mother Courage's possible Roma background unmentioned. What could be a legitimate reason for concealing one's origins?
