The power behind medicine
A small number of pharmaceutical companies have a huge impact on healthcare and, as a result, on our daily lives. Their medicines save lives, but also generate enormous profits for owners and shareholders. How fair is this system? Conspiracy thinkers see Big Pharma as part of a larger problem: a world ruled by powerful, invisible forces. What happens when representatives from these different worlds meet?
A world full of conspiracies
Director Eric de Vroedt creates a performance with Big Pharma about mistrust and power: “When you dive into the world of conspiracy theories, you enter a dark hall of mirrors where nothing is what it seems. The claims of conspiracy thinkers are usually untrue, but their instincts can sometimes be right – even if they are often paranoid. They expose how we are, more often than we admit, not critical enough of the systems around us.”
