The brief was simple. Dawn Collective asked six writers: who must you write for? And the actors: what is your ultimate dream role? After a series of conversations and improvisations, all inhibitions were cast aside.
The result? An evening where you can go on a theatrical speed date with six of the most diverse characters. In Melissa Knollenburg’s story, for instance, Joy Delima swaps the ‘good’ woman for her inner villain, inspired by Harley Quinn (DC Comics). Denise Aznam steps into an absurdist universe by Ayden Carlo, in which an alien conquers humanity with razor-sharp raps in the Bridgerton wardrobe. And in a moving story by Giovanni Brand, Nadia Amin steps into the shoes of a six-year-old boy trying to come to terms with his parents’ divorce.

Choose your own route through the theatre. Behind every door, a new character awaits. Every space, a different encounter. Never Have I Ever is Dawn Collective’s response to the one-dimensional roles that still too often dominate the stage. By giving creators the space to define their own dream roles, there is room for innovation and stories that leave you wanting more.
