No Yogurt for the Dead - Histoire(s) du Théâtre VI
What if theatre could be a way not to lose someone? In No Yogurt for the Dead, Tiago Rodrigues explores the final story of his father, who in his last days in hospital tried to keep writing. What remains are fragments, notes and traces – and it is here that the performance begins.

Between memory and imagination
Rodrigues starts from his late father’s notebook, in which almost no full sentences remain, only traces of a final attempt to speak. On stage, he reshapes that absence, not by reconstructing the past, but by letting it move through music, language and image.
The performance becomes a series of variations on farewell. Each scene approaches death not as an end, but as something that keeps returning in stories, songs and memories. The stage turns into a strange landscape where hospital beds seem to drift across a sea of ice, fragile, absurd and yet alive.-|-
No Yogurt for the Dead is not a traditional memorial, but an attempt to hold on to something that has already disappeared through theatre. And perhaps, for a brief moment, make it audible again.
Reviews
New York Times (US)
"Rodrigues’ dramaturgical craft on full display”
Libération (FR)
"A story that is true and unique, and universal because it is personal, a story that concerns us all"
Focus Knack (BE)
"Rodrigues, together with three actresses and a musician, creates an enchantingly beautiful, funny and surprising performance about mourning. Precisely seasoned with an exquisite sauce of live fado singing."
