It’s Friday afternoon. Georges Vermeersch (Fedja Van Huêt) comes home after he is released early from prison. He was convicted for having an incestuous relationship with their daughter, who has since left for the big city. During Georges’ absence, his wife Jeanne (Anniek Pheifer) has found comfort in the arms of his best friend and neighbour Erik. She recently gave birth to their daughter. This is the starting point of a story in which guilt and forgiveness, love and friendship, sacrifice and despair rival for the attention. -|-Four characters have an insatiable yearning for love and comfort, in a present that is tainted by the past. Infinitely compassionately, Claus describes Georges and Jeanne’s efforts to reconstruct their marriage in the now and to fight for the future. They can only do that together. Ultimately,Vrijdagis a comforting plea for forgiveness, for hope, and for love.
