De Grote Kunstshow met Bas Kosters
De Grote Kunstshow met Bas Kosters
Shows
Bas Kosters, one of the Netherlands' most unique fashion artists, is the central figure in this special edition of De Grote Kunstshow. In an hour-and-a-half-long show, his fashion, drawings, dolls, tapestries and other highlights from Kosters' multidisciplinary oeuvre are brought to life in a theatrical setting. With light, music, monologues, theatre and interviews, the works are given a new experience and - above all - the stories that lie behind the work are told. Gender identity, ideals of beauty, overconsumption, activism, vulnerability and eroticism are Bas Kosters' fascinations - ideal ingredients for a stimulating art show.
Location: Rabozaal
Start: 20:00
Duration: 90 minutes, no intermission
This edition is a unique opportunity for those who want to get to know Bas Kosters theatrically or get to know the person and motives behind the work better. Afterwards, the show will seamlessly merge into an exhibition on stage, a chance to see Kosters' work up close.
Fresh, attractive and innovative
De Grote Kunstshow (The Great Art Show) turns the classic museum model on its head. You do not wander through white museum rooms, but as a theatre spectator, you get art theatrically presented on stage. 'Fresh, attractive and innovative', is what Volkskrant wrote about the first edition in 2013. The presentation is in the hands of Flemish theatre maker Lucas de Man, known from AVROTROS' Kunstuur. He involves the audience in the Grote Kunstshow and stimulates them with unexpected thoughts. -|- The Big Art Show with Bas Kosters is an initiative of Johan Idema, in cooperation with Studio Bas Kosters. This edition is made possible by Fonds Podiumkunsten, Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie, BNG Cultuurfonds, Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds (departments Gelderland, Zuid-Holland and Noord-Brabant), K.F. Hein Fonds, Gemeente Den Haag, Het Boellaardfonds, Elise Mathilde Fonds and the Fentener van Vlissingen Fonds.

Ivo van Hove adapted Who Killed My Father, by internationally acclaimed writer Édouard Louis, for the stage. Van Hove turned the very outspoken book into a monologue, especially for Hans Kesting.
