What will you be doing?

As Context & Education Officer you develop, organise and host contextual programmes around ITA's programming. Think post-show talks, public talks, workshops, encounters, public programmes and in-depth formats that connect our productions to current social, artistic and urban themes.

You will work within the Programming & Perspective team. You contribute both substantively and practically to the connection between programming, audiences and partners across the city. You translate artistic themes into compelling programmes and make sure they are realised soundly, from first idea to final delivery.

A selection of your responsibilities

  • Devising, organising and delivering contextual programmes around productions, festivals and current themes at ITA
  • Developing formats that fit the occasion, such as talks, post-show talks, workshops, encounters and public programmes
  • Preparing programmes in substance: carrying out research, approaching guests and moderators, briefing them, and sharpening the dramaturgical and social lines of argument
  • Producing the programmes in practice: planning, coordination, running orders, liaising with internal teams and hosting on the day itself
  • Building and maintaining relationships with artists, moderators, civic partners, cultural organisations and communities across the city
  • Spotting opportunities for new collaborations and programmes that deepen and broaden ITA's programming

What do you bring?

We are looking for a new colleague who:

  • Has experience creating and delivering contextual programmes, public programmes or in-depth programmes within theatre, the arts, culture or civic organisations
  • Is strong on content and knows how to connect artistic themes to current social conversations
  • Organises, plans and delivers well, keeping an overview throughout
  • Knows how to maintain relationships and build networks with artists, partners, moderators and communities
  • Takes initiative, works independently and adapts quickly in a dynamic artistic environment
  • Has an excellent command of Dutch, both spoken and written. English is an advantage

What we offer

  • A vibrant workplace in the heart of Amsterdam
  • A one-year contract for 20 hours a week, with the prospect of a permanent position
  • A salary in scale V (between €2,799 and €4,079 gross per month, based on full-time hours) under the CAO Toneel en Dans, the collective labour agreement for theatre and dance
  • 27 days' holiday plus 12 additional days off a year (based on full-time hours)
