How can we help you?
Your visit to a show begins with buying a ticket. Whether you book well in advance or decide to come at the last moment: we are glad to help you.
Buy your tickets online, by telephone or at the box office of Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam.
Online
Tickets are easy to buy through the website. Go to the production you want to see, choose a date and click on ‘Book tickets’.
For most productions you choose your own seat in the auditorium. The colours on the seating plan show the different price categories. Seats with an open dot are still free. Seats with a coloured dot are already taken.
You log in with an ITA account and pay by iDEAL, credit card or the Podiumcadeaukaart. You then receive your tickets by email. Your tickets are also in your online account. On an iPhone, you can add your tickets to your Wallet.
Would you rather receive your tickets on paper? Then we will send them to you for € 3.50 in handling costs per booking.
Give us a call
Not getting anywhere online, or do you have a question about a show? Do give us a call. The box office team will be glad to help you book tickets or answer your questions. You can reach us from Monday to Saturday between 13.00 and 18.00 on +31 (0)20 624 23 11.
After your telephone booking, we will send you a payment link. Once you have paid, you will receive your tickets by email. Would you like them by post? We then charge € 3.50 in handling costs per booking.
At the box office
Would you rather drop in? You are very welcome at the box office of Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. Our colleagues will be glad to help you buy tickets, give theatre advice or answer questions about your visit.
You are welcome from Monday to Saturday between 13.00 and 18.00. When there is a show in the evening, we are open until the show begins. On Sundays and public holidays we open two hours before the start.
At the box office you can pay by debit card, credit card (Visa / Mastercard) and the Podiumcadeaukaart.
Please note: we do not accept other gift cards such as the Nationale Theater, Kunst & Cultuur card, the Museumkaart or the VVV voucher.
Exchanges & refunds
Arrive on time
The time on your ticket is the start time of the show. We start punctually and once the show has begun you can no longer enter the auditorium. It disturbs the other visitors or breaks the performers' concentration. For shows with an interval, the interval is often the first moment at which you can still take your seat in the auditorium. If you arrive late, you are not entitled to a refund.
Waiting list
Is a show sold out? From an hour before the start you can collect a number for the waiting list at the box office. Tickets that are not collected go back on sale a quarter of an hour before the start. This is done in the order of the waiting list.
Vouchers
Do you have a gift voucher or a credit voucher? You can use it when buying tickets. You buy a gift voucher yourself to give as a present. You receive a credit voucher when, for example, a show is cancelled.
Discounts & memberships
Are you a student, are you coming with a group or do you use a Stadspas? Then you may be able to attend a show at a discount. View all discounts and memberships here.

The General Visitor Conditions of the VSCD apply to all visitors of the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam.
Photography & phones
However great the temptation to take photographs sometimes is, photography and filming during the show are not permitted. It spoils the enjoyment of your fellow visitors, and it also breaks the performers' concentration. For a nice memento of your evening at the theatre, you are of course welcome to take a photograph during the curtain call.
