Out of the stillness
In Out of the Stillness, NDT 1 reveals the force of two distinct choreographic voices. Gabriela Carrizo and Hofesh Shechter each explore the fragile boundary between inner and outer worlds in their own way.
What begins as an evening of familiar gestures and bodies gradually shifts into something elusive: spaces that distort, bodies that alienate, and thoughts that detach from reality.

Between the familiar and the unsettling
In The missing door by Gabriela Carrizo (2013), we find ourselves in a claustrophobic domestic space that slowly loses its logic. Everyday actions become unsettling, while reality and imagination begin to merge.
Carrizo creates a liminal world where time seems to stand still: a space “between life and death”, where the emotional undercurrents of the characters become increasingly visible. The result is an intense, theatrical dance experience in which tension builds gradually.
Opposite this stands a brand-new world premiere by Hofesh Shechter, who collaborates with NDT for the fourth time. His work explores the tension between body and mind, control and surrender.-|-
In his new creation, dreamlike sequences are abruptly interrupted by raw reality. The dancers move on the edge of physical exhaustion and precision, driven by pulsating music and sharp contrasts.
As Shechter describes it: thoughts collide, images refuse to align, and the mind searches for stability in a constantly shifting world.
