Henri A. Viotta was the son of the composer and musician Joannes Viotta, who wrote the music for “Zie de maan schijnt door de bomen”, among other works. He founded the Wagner Vereeniging, one of the users of the theatre, founded the Residentie Orkest and was for many years director of the Koninklijk Conservatorium.
