Gerarda Rueter portrayed the actor Louis Saalborn as the historical Count Egmont from Goethe's play of the same name. Saalborn began his career as a visual artist and actor but grew into a defining figure in the theatre of his day. He designed sets and costumes and painted his fellow performers. After the Second World War he continued to work as a director and actor.
