As a grandson of the great Johannes Jelgerhuis, and a cousin of Marie Kleine-Gartman, Pierre August Morin was born to the stage. In the nineteenth century, when Dutch theatre was not at a high standard, he grew into a much-loved actor. Although he was married, he had a relationship for many years with the actor Suzanna Sablairolles, who also appears in the portrait gallery, and had children with her who went into the theatre as well. With the actor Christine Poolman, likewise in the portrait gallery, he also had a child who later became an actor. The theatre holds a plaque by P.E. van den Bossche and a painting by an unknown artist.
